Key features:
The second-generation Ford Focus was initially available only as a 3- or 5-door hatchback or estate, although the range was expanded later by the addition of a 4-door saloon and 2-door convertible. Three sizes of diesel engine were available: 1.6-, 1.8- and 2.0-litre units all drove the front wheels through either a five- or six-speed manual transmission. The fully independent suspension was by MacPherson struts and comprised transverse lower arms at the front, with multilink independent suspension at the rear. Anti-roll bars were fitted front and rear. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) was fitted to all models, and a Dynamic Stability and Traction Control System (DSTC) was also available.
