Key features:
The 2001-2005 Renault Clio was in essence, a heavily facelifted version of the Mk2 Clio that had been on sale since 1998. The engine range consisted of three petrol units, of 1.2, 14 and 1.6 litres, and one 1.5-litre diesel. All petrol engines used a fuel-injection system, and the diesel used a direct injection system. All the engines were of excellent design and, provided regular maintenance is carried out, are unlikely to give trouble. The Clio was available in 3- and 5-door hatchback bodystyles, with a wide range of fittings and interior trim depending on the model specification.
