The Renault Clio Mk3 was introduced in 2005 as a 3- or 5-door hatchback. There were 1.2-, 1.4-, 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines, and a 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.4 petrol engine was later replaced by a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine. The Clio was awarded 5 stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests. All cars have a minimum of six airbags. Side curtain airbags are fitted to all models apart from the entry-level cars. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) are standard throughout the range, with ESP (electronic stability program) and EBD (electronic brake assist) optional on all models. Cruise control, climate control and keyless entry were available on all but the most basic models. TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) and adaptive Xenon headlights were also available. Most components are reasonably accessible, with the only awkward components being the oil filter on the diesel models and the headlight bulbs.
